This morning I woke up to a thunderstorm out over the water. I grabbed my morning coffee and went to sit out in the screened garage to watch it. I watched the tree across the street. It bent and swayed with the wind. It caught and held, then gently dropped the rain. It let the lightening pass through it. The magic of the storm and the majesty of the tree combined to illustrate the grace of handling this life.
"Praise and blame, gain and loss, pleasure and sorrow, come and go like the wind. To be happy, rest like a great tree in the midst if them all."
~ from Buddha's Little Instruction Book
