Please CLOSE the window!

My fellow Bikram yogis are going to think I’m crazy, but today I actually wanted the instructor to CLOSE the window. Our instructors are really great about being attentive to the temp in the room and open the windows and doors when appropriate.

Now that I have discovered the benefits of letting the sweat . . . → Read More: Please CLOSE the window!

Power in Your Sweat

Your power is slowly stolen from you in the most unlikeliest places! It starts small, like with the drops of sweat on your face during hot yoga. You wipe it. You can’t resist. More sweat. You wipe it, still can’t resist, until you become obsessed with wiping it, burned up all your rest time with . . . → Read More: Power in Your Sweat

Be Your Own Guru…

THAT statement was really brought home to me in class this morning. We had one of our new instructors, a lovely little girl who was teaching her second class ever, so naturally remembering the dialogue was difficult for her. Having taught a scripted reading program to five year olds in the past, I so knew . . . → Read More: Be Your Own Guru…

I AM Amazing! (today anyway)

When I checked in at Bikram yoga at 7:45 this morning, I wrote “yes, I amaze myself”. After 3 glasses of wine and up talking to my husband til almost 1am, this morning my eyes opened promptly at 5:45, I was out of bed at six and felt amazing! Back n Spine Now

Yesterday’s yoga class went very well. I was able to do the poses and push a little harder on some. Balance on standing bow was spectacular. But once I got home, I was wiped. Wanted to go to Hyannis and shop, but couldn’t get out of my chair all afternoon and went to bed at . . . → Read More: Back n Spine Now

While I was away, the new instructors sent straight from Bikram himself in LA, came back and were teaching their first classes. This morning Michele taught our class and did a wonderful job! I had a great . . . → Read More: I Love Newly Trained Instructors!

Proud…didn’t think I’d do it!

Everyday since I’ve been in NY, both daughters and I have gotten up every morning and drove a half hour to Bikram yoga! I couldn’t be prouder of all three of us. This is very unlike us on a holiday vacation. Usually we’d just eat, drink, stay up late and sit around the house (which . . . → Read More: Proud…didn’t think I’d do it!

More Energy than God!

Right now, 6:44 am, is proof of what Bikram yoga did for me. I am wide awake in this tiny apartment, here in NY, with all this energy and nowhere to go. The girls are sound asleep in the livingroom, which is also, the kitchen, so unless I want to have coffee in the bathroom, . . . → Read More: More Energy than God!

After 8 consecutive weeks….

of Bikram yoga, the biggest change I have noticed is in my blood sugar level and food intake. For 10 years, working out 3-4 times a week, this was my eating pattern: 7am – oatmeal, coffee or tea 9am- granola bar, coffee 11:30am- peanutbutter sandwich, apple, coffee 2pm- crackers /cheese/peanutbutter/pear/, coffee 5:30pm – huge dinner . . . → Read More: After 8 consecutive weeks….

If You Don’t Take Care of Your Body, Where Will You Live?

I know. Diet and exercise are the keys to a healthy body. But what about a healthy mind? No more excuses, right? Wrong. Our bodies as well as our minds wake up in different places each day. Approaching exercise each day with no expectations is giving your body the freedom to do what’s right for . . . → Read More: If You Don’t Take Care of Your Body, Where Will You Live?
