Gain

Gain

For the last year I have been stretching and growing my spiritual side by dabbling in the Taoist teachings because they made so much sense. I would wear a charm around my neck representing the area I want to work on to use as a touchstone and when I mastered it, I hang it on a goddess tree where I can see it daily. Mastering it means wearing the charm until the behavior becomes a natural part of my thinking. Over the last year I've grown and stretched in many areas.

I was working along, happy in my spiritual quests, until I decided to work on Gain. I knew this was going be my toughest yet. The Taoists teach that money in and money out are to be viewed the same – with a sort of flat-lined feeling. Neither one is good or bad. Well, sorry, money out HURTS and money in makes me damn happy! In any event, while trying hard to get grip on where every dime goes (something I have to do cause every time I go look for money, it isn't where I left it last) I keep a piece of paper on my counter and write down what I buy each day. My goal is to rack up alot of days with "nothing" written next to it.

So how's this going, one might ask? Well let's just say I bought the charm last winter, wore it for about 6 months, took it off and put on the bathroom sink, looked at it alot, and last week went and bought a new charm -JOY. Now here's something I can handle!

Funny, I get no joy seeing GAIN sitting beside my toothbrush, and what was worse, now I had to write down I bought JOY.

The joy in today is in the fact that yet another day goes by and…..ta ..da..I have WRITTEN something!
